Mark Cullen: The Music

All Of A Sudden

(Mark Cullen)
December 13, 2003
My oldest son, Matt, was involved in a serious car accident in the winter of 1997. This song came about as he struggled through rehabilitation from the head injury that resulted. Though he recovered, it changed his life forever.....
**************************************
Busy little hands tweakin on the stereo / he's got his headphones on / Busy little feet dancin' to the pounding beat / the kid can really rock on / All of a sudden / that little kid is driving / and he's picked up a guitar / and though the notes are rough and sadly misbehaving /
He plays with all of his heart

The music flows / through the tips of his fingers / caressing and coaxing the cold wood and steel /
he plays 'till they bleed / but the notes are still racing / busy little hands / just learning to feel

Busy young hands holding on the steering wheel / he's got his stereo on / busy young feet tapping to the rockin' beat / he's happily cruising along / All of a sudden / a tire was exploding / and his ride left the road / back there in the dark amid the twisted wreckage / he in lay in the cold...

The music was choked / in motionless fingers / waxing and waning / in unconcious ears / his spirit was breathing / but drowning in darkness / busy little mind / just fighting to hear

Busy young hands
holding on the handrail / trembling now and unsure / busy young feet
Shuffle try to find the beat / his strength almost gone for sure / all of a sudden / your life has changed completely / the struggle now just your own / and as you make your way though the road moves long and slowly / son you are a better man now I know

The music flows / through the tips of his fingers / caressing and coaxing
the cold wood and steel / through all the pain and rain / the fire kept burning / busy knowing hands / now hoping to heal
